The group's principal activity is to operate a diversified fleet of the United States and international flag vessels, which provide domestic and international maritime transportation services. These services are provided to commercial customers and agencies of the United States government primarily under medium to long-term charters or contracts. The group operates in four segments: liner services, time charter contracts, contracts of affreightment and other. It also provides ancillary services such as ship charter brokerage, agency and barge fleeting and other specialized services. The fleet consists of 36 ocean-going vessels, 2 towboats, 7 river barges, 28 special purpose barges and 1,722 lighter aboard ships. The group operates in the United States, gulf, east coast, Middle East, Far East, and northern Europe.
